About Us

“What’s really inspiring is the change of attitude amongst the young people – their outlook for their education, for their future life – they’ve taken responsibility. We’ve seen young people who haven’t been actively involved in education now going back to it passionately believing that you’ve got to do the work to change your life”

Derek Browne on Stockwell Park EiA students

What we do
EiA offer a suite of programmes and activities which unlock the untapped talents of young people. EiA work in partnership with successful companies to give students a real taste of enterprise through exciting, hands-on business challenges and learning programmes.

We want to inspire young people of all backgrounds and abilities to follow their passions. We want to open their minds to the possibilities and opportunities out there for them in the business world. We give young people a positive taste of a real-life working environment. Learning activities are structured to encourage young people to be innovative, to experiment and to develop their potential as future entrepreneurs, creators, leaders.

How do EiA programmes improve young people's lives?

EiA programmes enable young people to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes they will need in the business and working world. From effective communication and team-work, to marketing your ideas, to sound business and financial planning - programmes equip young people for the future. But more importantly than that, EiA changes beliefs and mindsets. On our programmes participants are challenged to:

  •  think for themselves
  • develop their entrepreneurial, creative thinking
  • work in a team to solve problems and achieve goals
  • take responsibility for their own learning
  • be positive about their own and other people’s abilities
  • recognise and seize opportunities
  • commit themselves to making ideas happen

Our facilitators use coaching techniques and group work to help young people develop and implement their own ideas, and to think about what they have learned from the experience. Young people are motivated to expand their ideas about the future direction of their lives. They are encouraged to:

  •  believe in themselves
  • aim high
  • be unafraid of set-backs
  • learn from mistakes
  • be persistent
  • work hard to achieve their dreams

EiA is committed to making enterprise a ‘real’ experience so that programmes change young people’s view of business – they see that it’s something they can really do. They experience the satisfaction of working hard as a team to successfully accomplish a challenging business project. EiA programmes raise young people’s confidence and self-esteem to bring out the best in them. These are the benefits mentioned most frequently by young people on completing an EiA programme.
